New York–based cannabis brand Skyworld has announced a new partnership with the Last Prisoner Project (LPP), a nonprofit organization focused on addressing the ongoing consequences of cannabis-related incarceration in the United States. The collaboration aims to raise awareness, encourage industry participation, and provide direct support for justice reform initiatives.
The partnership operates through LPP’s Partners for Freedom program, which connects legal cannabis businesses with advocacy and reentry efforts. As part of the initiative, Skyworld is encouraging New York dispensaries to participate in LPP’s Roll It Up for Justice program, allowing customers to make voluntary donations at checkout to support individuals and families affected by past cannabis enforcement.
A key feature of the campaign is Skyworld’s promotion of its White Apple Runtz cannabis flower. The product’s abbreviated name, “WAR,” is intended as a symbolic reference to the War on Drugs, reinforcing the partnership’s focus on acknowledging and addressing historical injustices tied to cannabis prohibition.
Skyworld has also incorporated educational elements into its packaging design, using visual cues to reference the era of aggressive drug enforcement and its lasting social impact. Company leadership has emphasized that legalization alone does not resolve the harm caused by decades of prohibition and that meaningful reform requires continued action and accountability.
Industry observers view the collaboration as part of a broader shift within the legal cannabis market, where brands are increasingly aligning commercial success with social responsibility and restorative justice efforts.
