Yes, that is right. We have some new strains to announce. While all of us are adapting our lives to the new COVID-19 norm, the dispensaries, growers and their staffs have been busy providing medicine to our patient base. Please do not forget to thank them for their efforts during these challenging times, our words are more meaningful than you know.
What are these new strains? There are two new offerings from Theraplant.
Brandica (I) aka Blackberry Cheesecake
Are we excited about this indica release? Hmm… Does a fat kid like cake?
According to AllBud:
(80% Indica / 20% Sativa)
Blackberry Cheesecake is an indica dominant hybrid strain created through crossing the delicious Black Cherry Soda x Cheese strains. On the hunt for an insanely delicious indica? Blackberry Cheesecake is totally meant for you. This gorgeous bud packs a super sweet nutty blackberry and cheese flavor with a rich nutty exhale. The aroma is of earthy herbs and rich nutty berries and cheese, all accented by a note of pungency as the nugs are burned. The Blackberry Cheesecake high isn’t quite as eye-opening as the flavor, with super relaxing effects that are best suited for a night when sleep just won’t come.
You’ll feel a subtle lift at the onset of the high that fills your mind with hazy happiness without causing an increase in energy or focus. A deeply relaxing body high comes next, creeping up on you before dropping you into a state of sleepy calm and ease. Thanks to these effects and its super high 21-23% average THC level, Blackberry Cheesecake is often chosen to treat those suffering from conditions such as chronic pain, insomnia, chronic fatigue, muscle spasms or cramps, and arthritis. This bud has small rounded dark olive green nugs with rich purple undertones, thin amber hairs, and a frosty thick coating of tiny golden amber crystal trichomes.

Rootica (I) aka Root Canal (Caramel Candy Kush x Face Off OG)
Rootica is an interesting cross. We were not able to find the information directly linked to other attempts at this cross. We might be a novel strain from Theraplant. We were, however, able to find information on both paternal plants.
According to Wikileaf: Caramel Candy Kush
Caramel Candy Kush, as the name would suggest, is a tasty candy strain of cannabis that is Indica-dominant. Although much of the world believes this strain to be a little mysterious, some digging uncovers the truth about this morsel of cannabis goodness. Dynasty Seeds, a US-based cannabis company, created the strain by crossing a Pre-98 Bubba Kush with Miss Universe #10. These two strains were not chosen by accident. Dynasty Seeds was looking to create a Pre-98 Bubba Kush hybrid strain that didn’t render users “non-functional.” By crossing the potent and long-lasting medicinal effects of Miss Universe #10 into the fold, these breeders created the perfect hybrid strain for both pain management and functional operation.
Caramel Candy Kush is a rare flower, available almost exclusively in the Pacific Northwest of the United States in addition to British Columbia. However, those who do find this strain on the shelf are in for a powerful treat. Test data for Caramel Candy Kush has shown THC concentrations as high as 20% with little to nonexistent CBD levels. There are two very distinct phenotypes of the Caramel Candy Kush. The first, which accounts for about 70% of all the Caramel Candy Kush on the market today, is quite dense and boxy. These nugs are often very heavy and spongey to the touch, with an aroma of cherry, caramel, and vanilla. This phenotype tends to be more like Bubba in its structure and Miss Universe in its aroma. The second phenotype, which accounts for the rest of the flower in circulation, is largely Kush-dominant in nature with some physical attributes inherited from Miss Universe. This bud tends to be a little drier to the touch, with an aroma of caramel, grapes, cherries, coffee, and cream.
This strain has reportedly been quite popular amongst the medical community in the Pacific Northwest. This strain is snatched up almost as soon as it’s stocked because of its ability to treat anxiety, chronic pain, stress, depression, and GI issues. Due to its hybrid nature, consumers should expect to experience a range of effects. Many have reported a strong, soothing body buzz alleviating physical pains while a calm cerebral high soothes the racing mind. Expect to feel quite heavy and often sedated after smoking some of this sweet flower, as couch lock is a common effect of this strain. Many have found that this strain settles GI issues by alleviating nausea and causing the munchies in those who lack appetite.
This strain is also quite popular for those that like to press their own hash and concentrates, as Caramel Candy Kush is quite resin-heavy. This is because Miss Universe #10 passed down some genetics from DessTar, a strain known for its oversized resin glands. These “disco balls” are the large globs of resin present on the end of trichomes.
According to Wikileaf: Face Off OG
No, we’re not talking about the Nicky Cage movie that made waves in 1997. However, the name Face Off OG was based on the feeling that this extremely potent bud provides and actually predates the film by a few years. Not much is known specifically about this strain, however many believe it to be a byproduct of two extremely hard-hitting pure indicas that will have you feeling like your face is literally coming off in a fury of tingles.
The THC content falls somewhere around 20% making it higher than average and leaning towards a long-lasting potency. It is believed to be 50-50, but most consider it an indica-dominant strain because of the heavy body buzz and cerebral stoney combo. These super-dense medicinal buds are extremely leafy and lime green in color. They are covered in red hairs and tiny white trichomes, giving a nice contrast from the dark green leaves. The flavors and aromas are not anything to write home about but are pleasant enough: earthy and woody with a nice aftertaste.
The Face Off OG high is as you would expect: extremely tingly, very potent, and not at all for first-timers. On occasion even the most experienced of cannabis users find it to be overwhelming. This super heavy high sometimes leads to confusion and dizziness, though for the most part is typically a relaxing, calm experience. You’ll find yourself entirely couch-locked within a very short span of time and the laziness that accompanies that will completely overpower any motivation you may have had going into this experience. The sleepiness sets in fairly quickly, so if you are the type to plan ahead make sure to include a pillow.
Medically, this strain is only recommended for expert-level smokers. It is highly beneficial for those who suffer from insomnia due to its sedating side effects. Sufferers of chronic pain, muscle tension, headaches, and injury can enjoy the relief that this extremely strong flower provides with only a few puffs. As it is also a stimulant, some find it helpful with lack of appetite, nausea, and mood disorders such as depression, chronic stress, and mild cases of anxiety. Because this can be an overwhelming strain at times, some users find that it agitates symptoms of PTSD, extreme anxiety, and manic episodes.
This is a clone-only strain and as a result, you want to be at minimum an intermediate to advanced grower. It will flourish indoors or out and is recommended to be kept in controlled conditions. This is not a plant that likes swings in temperature or climates. Depending on who you ask it is extremely resistant to disease and mold, or it is neither of those things. Like the movie itself, Face Off OG is a bit difficult to handle.
If you are an advanced smoker and want to try something that is the marijuana equivalent of a Nicolas Cage movie, then this is definitely a strain to try. The flavors won’t necessarily blow you away, but what it lacks in taste it makes up for in effects. If you want to add a little kick to the flavor, try it in a spiced or fruit-flavored blunt wrap.
