The White House recently convened its first official meeting focused on federal enforcement policy for cannabis products, bringing together industry stakeholders and federal officials to discuss how the government might regulate cannabidiol (CBD) products moving forward.
The session was organized by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) — part of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) — and included participation from leaders in the cannabis industry, such as executives from CBD companies, to provide input on a proposed enforcement policy that has been drafted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
This meeting is part of a series of scheduled discussions aimed at shaping how federal authorities will handle compliance and enforcement for CBD products once the policy is finalized. Several additional sessions are planned in the coming days to give stakeholders more opportunities to weigh in.
While the White House has not yet released specific details of the proposed policy, the discussions signal increased federal attention on clarifying how CBD and other cannabis-derived products will be regulated, marketed, and enforced under U.S. law.
