An 18-year-old Wallingford resident is facing multiple charges after police discovered a significant amount of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.
On the evening of April 25, officers from the Wallingford Police Department pulled over a vehicle for motor vehicle violations. During the stop, police said they found evidence suggesting the driver was involved in marijuana distribution.
The driver, identified as James Cotter-Swetz, 18, was arrested at the scene. Santiago has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than five ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the drug-related offenses, he received citations for various motor vehicle infractions.
Cotter-Swetz was later released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 8.
Authorities have not released specific details regarding the traffic stop or the quantity of marijuana seized. The investigation remains ongoing.
