New Britain’s cannabis market is losing one of its more distinctive players. 420 Warehouse, the recreational dispensary at 1 Hartford Square, will close its doors on January 3, ending a run that began just last spring.
Opened in April, the shop stood out for its proximity to cultivation partner Brix Cannabis, allowing products to move quickly from grow room to sales floor. The industrial setting, graffiti-style artwork, and visible ties to the cultivation process gave the dispensary a personality that felt firmly rooted in New Britain rather than polished corporate retail.
The closure comes less than a year into operation, highlighting the challenges facing Connecticut’s still-developing recreational cannabis market. Customers have until January 3 to make a final visit before the lights go out, closing a brief but memorable chapter in the city’s cannabis story.
