Green Thumb Industries (GTI), a leading U.S. cannabis company, has officially begun adult-use cannabis sales in Minnesota, marking a significant milestone in the state’s rapidly evolving cannabis market.
Strategic Market Entry
GTI’s expansion into Minnesota follows its 2023 acquisition of LeafLine Industries, which secured one of the state’s only two vertical cannabis licenses. This acquisition included a cultivation facility and five retail locations in key markets including Eagan, Hibbing, St. Cloud, St. Paul, and Willmar. The company also operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Cottage Grove, which has served Minnesota’s medical cannabis patients since 2021.
Launch of Adult-Use Sales
On September 17, 2025, GTI launched adult-use sales at five RISE Dispensary locations in Brooklyn Park, Eagan, Mankato, New Hope, and Willmar. Plans are in place to expand to additional locations in Baxter, St. Paul, and St. Cloud in the near future.
The dispensaries offer a wide range of products from GTI’s portfolio, including premium flower, gummies, pre-rolls, and vapes. Demonstrating its commitment to the community, GTI donated the first-day profits from adult-use sales to local nonprofit organizations, supporting initiatives such as veteran services and meal programs for seniors.
Financial Performance
In the second quarter of 2025, GTI reported revenue of $293.3 million, a 4.7% increase from the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA reached $82.7 million, reflecting a strong 28.2% margin. Despite a modest GAAP net loss of $0.65 million, the company’s robust operational cash flow and strategic investments position it well for sustained growth.
Looking Ahead
GTI’s entrance into Minnesota’s adult-use cannabis market highlights its strategic approach to growth and community engagement. With a diverse product portfolio and a commitment to social responsibility, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the state’s expanding cannabis industry.
