The Connecticut-based cannabis company is expanding into Georgia, opening a new medical marijuana dispensary in Columbia County as the state slowly builds out its tightly controlled medical cannabis program. Georgia’s medical cannabis program remains one of the most restrictive in the country. Patients with qualifying conditions can access low-THC cannabis oil products, but the state still prohibits traditional flower sales and maintains tight control over licensing and retail expansion.
That makes Georgia a very different landscape from markets like Connecticut, where adult-use sales and broader product categories have created a more mature commercial market.
