Here we go again. Big Corporate Weed is marching through New Jersey like a hungry monster. Curaleaf, a giant weed company, just snatched up a piece of a local Boonton shop called Boone Town Provisions. It’s sitting right there on Myrtle Avenue. Now, Curaleaf has four whole stores in Jersey. Nationwide? They have a whopping 191 of them. It’s safe to say they aren’t exactly a small mom-and-pop business anymore.
The top boss at Curaleaf is Boris Jordan. He couldn’t wait to brag about this. He said they scooped up the Boonton shop because it makes a ton of money. He also said they got a totally sweet deal on it. Big shocker, right? Rich guys in suits always love a good bargain when they buy up local shops. They just want to shove their brand into more faces across the state.
And wow, Jersey is swimming in green right now. We aren’t just talking about trees. By 2025, folks spent over a billion dollars on legal pot here. It’s wild. There are hundreds of shops and thousands of jobs. But here’s the catch. Because the market is so hot, the giant mega-companies are swooping in. They see a gold rush and they want it all. They buy up the little guys so they can rule the whole retail scene.
Oh, and don’t forget the unions. They’re watching all this cash fly around and they want a piece of the action, too. They see all these new weed workers and think, “Hey, we should sign them up!” So, get ready. The local weed shop doesn’t belong to the little guy anymore. Welcome to Corporate Cannabis, where the big fish eat the small fish, and everyone’s trying to get paid.
