When you think of California, what are some of the first things you think of? Might it be clear skies, warm weather, palm trees, or cannabis?!? Ive always associated California with Cannabis because they have established the longest run state medical cannabis program in the united states.
Many fellow states have learned from Californias model of what a dispensary is and how medication is dispensed. The politics of backroom dealings are obviously a little different from state to state because of differences in program regulations. For the most part California has been a leading force for cannabis in the united states but it baffles me that California wasn’t the first state to legalize rec usage. Well as of January 1st 2018 Cannabis is finally recreationally legal in the golden state!
While this is awesome for the overall progress for cannabis in the united states, a lot of consumers aren’t very happy. Recreational markets are hiking prices up way higher than most feel are acceptable. Ive seen grams of concentrate go for 120$+ price point. That’s even more expensive than our medical program here in CT! Frankly, that’s pretty damn alarming.
While supposedly it won’t have any effect on the medical market from a pricing standpoint, I guess well have to see about long term effects.
Hopefully all the bugs and kinks in the program get worked out so California can achieve an ideal cannabis marketplace for both recreational and medical users alike.
