Dabs Are Dangerous?
If you’re like me than you probably dab A LOT. I dont fancy myself as “King Dabber” or anything but lets just say, I can hold my own. It has been well documented. Well recently, I read a pretty interesting study. The study was titled, “Toxicant Formation in Dabbing: The Terpene Story” and esentially it showed that terpenes can release chemicals that are possibly harming to humans at high temperatures.
Basically they believe, if you are taking dabs over 710 degrees than it will cause a reaction to the terpenes to release a toxic chemical. They experimented using “simulated dabbing conditions” and recorded the results of what material was left over after the dabs. They found Benzene and MC in the results. Personally, I like low temp dabs so you can taste the flavor better but every once in awhile you need a hot and herdy to shake things up!
I can see why you would be possibly worried with hearing those results. You may even think to yourself, why would you even consider putting that into your body? Well heres the thing about the study; the major problem with this study is that they used commercially available terpene mixtures. We don’t know the sources of the terps, we don’t know how they actually extracted the terps. There are a lot of inconsistencies in the study. Obviously, its interesting information that we should all at least be wary of but maybe just take with a grain of salt.
At the end of the day
This is something that we all should get to learn more about but i don’t think its quite an immediate cause for concern unless you’re taking brutally hot dabs. If its truly a concern for you, buy a heat gun to measure temperature.
