Cannabis has proven to be my favorite medicine. I’ve become very knowledgeable and its something that I enjoy. Well, in Connecticut you can only enjoy the experience up to a point. The fact that is is accessible in my state is a big start, but we could be doing way better.
When we went to Massachusetts to play a show over the weekend we dove head first into the legal scene of Massachusetts cannabis. It’s literally only a state over and it feels like a whole different world. When we bought cannabis we were able to look at it, smell it, and judge quality based on aesthetics not just a picture on an iPad on a back lobby that’s 3 doors away.
The cannabis was awesome, but the edibles and concentrates were incredible. There were a bunch of flavors of concentrates AND they were reasonably priced….can you believe it?? The edibles came in many flavors and typically 100mg across the board. Very reasonably priced for the strength.
Now I understand a pharmaceutical model and I believe it has its place…….like at a pharmacy….but cannabis is a whole other animal from pills and liquids. Pills don’t have terpenes and flavonoids. There aren’t distinct smells in pills or enjoyable flavors.
On top of this, we were blessed for performing at the event and we were given a bunch of edibles to go home with. Unfortunately for me they did last much longer than the next day but the gifts were highly appreciated.
Connecticut, we got a lot of work, we have to do, but I don’t see it as impossible. If we all worked together (very large number not just small segment of cannabis community) to express to our people in power that this is what we want, we will get it. We just have to do anything we can to get the message across.
