I decided to drive to the dispensary this afternoon to see this new crazy concentrate by Curaleaf. I was intrigued to see why they, Curaleaf, determined to price this product to be the highest costing medicine in the program. I was initially overwhelmed with the cost when I heard of this new offering, like many other patients, I thought it was a typo. How could an average patient in Connecticut afford this medicine? Today’s cost of gold was $39.72/gram, which makes this 4 times as expensive and I’m about to smoke it! Makes you think! I know that some dispensaries in the state are not carrying this product because of the high price. I purchased this medicine to give it an honest review for everyone.
First glance, it is remarkably clear with a golden color. The name is suiting for this concentrate. There is no overpowering aroma from it. This is a Sour Diesel strain, so I expect a sativa head high. It would be great for me during the day, however there are cheaper sativa alternatives that I know already work great. It has a thicker consistency than that of a Theraplant wax, but not as hard as a shatter, sort of gummy. I don’t want to touch this for obvious reasons.
I think to give a true review of this medicine, I’m going to break out the enail. This way I can gauge the taste and high on a low and high temperature setting. So the enail is warm and set, it’s been sitting for 5 minutes at 475 degrees and the music is playing…let’s smoke! Smelling the dabs once you dig in releases a faint sweet smell. Any lower on the enail temperature and this concentrate is not going to melt, I could barely taste anything at 475 and produced little vapor. So instead of playing around with concentrate, I’m going up to 750 degrees.
The first pull is extremely clean. At 750, I’m getting great vapor production. I don’t feel I’m wasting anything at this temperature, even though there was a little pooling. It is a light flavor, I can still taste the coffee I had before. I don’t taste any after taste. I’ve waited five minutes and I can definitely feel the dab. I think that this is a good wax, I like it, but I’m not being sold on the price. I want to take a bigger dab, but I feel that each dab is $10 hit to my wallet.
The second dab has me feeling great and active. But for $82/.5 gram this has me wanting more!! Theraplant offers a comparable product with a higher terpene count for a fraction of the cost. I like it, but I can not justify it to myself. I would honestly feel a more accurate price for this product would be in the $60/gram range, it’s good, just not remarkable.
