Rickert Comes to Fairfield County
Over the weekend if you are into heady glass, you probably stopped by the Rickert Glass Showcase at Stoked in Bridgeport. Once I heard about the event, I had to make an appearance to see it with my own eyes. This was not your casual stop at a headshop. No, no. This was an immersive experience for any glass enthusiast. You get an opportunity to see the artist at work, you can ask questions, but most importantly you get to see what goes into making these pieces of art.
When the door opened, you would have thought Stoked was giving something away. The main room was packed. I quickly navigated through the crowd to see if I could get a good view of the covered display case. The crowd was electrified, eagerly waiting for the Rickert showcase reveal. Once the sheet was pulled back, it was clear to understand why the who’s who of the glass culture in Connecticut were there. The craftsmanship and attention to detail Rickert puts into his art are simply amazing. His pieces are not only beautiful, but they have flawless function.
Make sure to give Jonathon Rickert some love and check him out on Instagram @RickertGlass. He is a talented glass blower from Asheville, NC who’s been in the glass game since 2007!
If you’ve never walked into Stoked, you should make appoint to stop by and see what they have to offer. They have some of the greatest glass artists on Instagram available in store. The staff goes out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. Not only are they knowledgeable and dedicated to craft, but they live and breath the glass culture.
