We are still waiting to hear the call to vote on the first cannabis legalization bill. This proposed house bill, would establish part of what would become a complete bill on the state house floor.
Last Friday, the General Law Committee held a public forum for testimonials, in support as well in opposition. The room was electric with emotions while state residents spoke up concerning the plant’s future as a legal substance. Those in opposition, continued their calls to keep the seeds of a new industry at bay. It was the same old fear tactics and misinformation being relayed from those who profit off it being illegal. Thankfully this time legislators appeared to be better informed on the subject and it was clear the opposition was not prepared to provide factual support to their claims.

Today we wait on the 19 member committee to cast vote to move the bill forward towards the potential legalization of and Adult-use of cannabis in Connecticut. This movement has gained overwhelming support in recent years and we still need help pushing us over the finish line.
