TRUMBULL — Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission said there haven’t been any cannabis establishments interested in opening a location in town, so extending the town’s prohibition against such businesses would be no problem.
The commission approved extending the town’s moratorium on cannabis establishments opening in town for another year during a meeting Thursday night.
“It’s not so much that this commission is anti-cannabis or looking to prevent it,” said Chair Fred Garrity. “There have been some folks showing up in the past that may have had intent to open one but had no plan. We clearly told them our voices and minds are open and if they came with an application we would revisit it. But no one has in the past couple of years, so there is no driving force for us to have to do this. If somebody came knocking, then we would have to do that when it’s time.”
