WESTPORT, CT (WFSB) – Detectives executed a search warrant at a smoke shop in Westport on Tuesday and found it had been selling a number of illegal cannabis-related products.
The warrant was executed at Savvy Smoker on Post Road East.
Investigators said they began looking into the business after they received complaints from the community. The complaints said the business was selling illegal substances.
“The business does not hold a cannabis dispensary, hybrid retailer, retailer, or delivery service license from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection,” said Lt. Jillian Cabana, Westport police. “Along with assistance from agents of the State of Connecticut DCP Drug Control Division, investigators searched the premises and seized a significant number of illegal items.”
Among the items seized were hundreds of jars of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes and vape cartridges, containers of concentrated resin, synthetic cannabinoids, dozens of packages of THC gummies, marijuana, and packaging materials.
“The concentration of THC in many of the products exceeded the limit allowed in a hemp product and/or were not in child or tamper-resistant packaging,” Cabana said.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
