NORWALK — Police arrested a New York City man Friday in connection with an investigation into illegal cannabis sales at a Connecticut Avenue smoke shop, officials said.
Ali Mahmood Ahmed Abdullah Ghaleb, 21, was charged with possession of more than one kilogram of cannabis with the intent to sell and other drug offenses, according to Sgt. Ryan Evart of the Norwalk Police Department.
Evart, who did not identify the individual’s relationship to the business, said the arrest followed a raid at the ZaZA Smoke Shop, which was conducted as part of a probe into local smoke shops that sell marijuana products without a state license.
Evart said police seized $1,983 in cash and several hundred products containing THC, including 3.5 pounds of pure cannabis as well as gummies. He said the marijuana appeared to have been packaged with labels affixed to them.
