The third marijuana dispensary in Carson City, located at 3060 East Highway 50, is set to open doors Saturday morning.
According to a news release, a ribbon cutting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 23) as part of the store’s grand opening with “swag bag” giveaways for the first 100 attendees followed by food from Bus Boy Mobile noon to 2 p.m.
Regular store hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The opening signifies the 100th RISE location nationwide, according to the release.
The new shop will offer a range of cannabis products including vapes and edibles.
“Continuing RISE Dispensary’s tradition of giving back to the communities that welcome them with each new store opening, all profits from the grand opening will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada,” the release said.
RISE is owned by Chicago-based Green Thumb Industries.
“Green Thumb became a part of the Nevada cannabis community in 2016 and currently operates one production facility in Carson City and two in Las Vegas, where it grows and manufactures its branded products,” according to the news release. “The company is dedicated to upholding the highest quality standards in cultivation and production, ensuring that each product delivers a consistent, true-to-plant experience.”
Marijuana shops are relatively new to the capital city. Through public hearings in 2022, the Carson City Board of Supervisors ultimately changed city code to allow four marijuana retail establishments in the city versus the two previously allowed after state legalization of recreational marijuana in 2016.
Las Vegas-based cannabis company Qualcan initiated the city ordinance in 2022 and later obtained a special use permit for a new dispensary along South Carson Street, but that dispensary did not materialize.
In July of this year, Carson City planning commissioners approved a special use permit for the second RISE location in the general commercial zone along Highway 50. A nearly identical application was approved by the commission in January, but the applicant later had to change the company name as operator due to an error — from GTI Nevada LLC to Essence Henderson LLC.
