Connecticut is making waves and people outside of the state are taking notice as well. We are behind the ball on legalization and inaction does not help us. 27-24 is too close for comfort. When the recreational markets are available in Massachusetts, there will be no stopping the importation across state lines. Just like when the state banned the sale of alcohol on Sunday, did that stop people from consuming? No it did not. People purchased prior to Sundays and if you lived close to the state line, you simply drove to a package store that was open.
Legislators should stop claiming there is no factual support for legalization and ending prohibition. These individuals are too lazy to get out of their own way. It’s not hard to type “cannabis studies” into a google search. These Connecticut Legislators claim “due diligence,” but here we are years behind other states in the North East. When will start demanding accountability and vote out the opposition for failing to meet the office expectations. I could have understood claims that Connecticut was not ready to rush into things five years ago. Those days are far behind us now.
