Massachusetts spent six years and ten billion dollars proving that regulated cannabis works, but prohibitionists are still trying to hit the rewind button. Governor Maura Healey made it clear this week that she is voting “no” on a November ballot question that would scrap commercial adult-use sales and home growing. With recent polling showing upwards of 70 percent of voters aligned against the rollback, wiping out thousands of local jobs and billions in tax revenue to return to the underground market is a hard sell. As the Commonwealth prepares to vote, the message from the corner office is simple: legal weed is here to stay, and dismantling it now makes no practical sense.
