Jeff sessions, everybody has probably heard a thing or two about this guy. Our lovely attorney General seems to believe it is a good idea to try to reverse all the previously passed legislation regarding cannabis. Well, good luck buddy.
Today is the day that Jeff Sessions is being taken to court. It is to dispute whether or not what hes trying to do is unconstitutional. The people who brought this case about are a 12 year old epilepsy patient along with a fellow unnamed child and veteran.
A Day of in Court
Alexis Bortell, 12, was from Texas but was forced to move to Colorado because of Texas’s draconian cannabis laws. She tried many pharmaceuticals but none of them gave her the relief she needed. After trial and error with many medications she discovered cannabis managed her epilepsy and left he seizure free. So in fear of repercussion for trying to heal herself, her and her family had to leave the lives they were used to behind.
She can’t be in court to testify because she isn’t allowed to travel with her medicine. The medication travel ban is because of the current scheduling of Cannabis as a schedule 1 substance. So her lawyer will be there representing her while she’s at home. If I was her I wouldn’t risk the travel without my medication either.
Access to Medication
People should have the constitutional right to use substances that help them in any manner, as long as they aren’t hurting anyone else. I’m all for all substances being legalized and regulated like pharmacies……except cannabis. There are many discrepancies when you try to use the exact pharmaceutical model in the cannabis industry.
One of the problems with the Connecticut medical program is they treat it too much like a pharmacy. I understand wanting to look professional but why change previously established strain names to confuse consumers? On top of that, you can only see the meds via picture on an iPad. I dont know about you, but I want to see my cannabis medication before I purchase it or even think of consuming it.
