So a couple things happened over the past few days and I figured I’d throw them in one post.
Arizona and Extracts
As of recently a judge in Arizona ruled that cannabis extracts are illegal. There is a glaring lack of understanding present though. The reasoning behind the ruling is because “cannabis is derived from marijuana”. Anyone who reads that statement and scratches their heads, were with you. In 2010, Arizona voted to instate a medical cannabis program. It allowed for the flower form and for any preparation.
The problem is, Arizona law still views cannabis as a narcotic derived from marijuana. Arizona courts ruled that the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act did not cover extracts because the law considers them “cannabis.” Seems a little strange when the laws don’t actively reflect common science. As far as we know though, dispensaries dont have any plans of stopping sales of “cannabis products”. haha

So more and more in states where medical and recreational cannabis are legal, we are seeing mass amount of events popping up. Whether they be, smoke sessions, cannabis cups, paint and toke parties….what have you. Well, event ticketing service EventBrite is no longer looking to be affiliated with cannabis events.
Leading cannabis film connoisseur Michael Zaytsev has been selling tickets for two years for the New York Cannabis Film Festival. Last week he tried logging into his account and found he was barred from entering due to “violations of laws surrounding a federally regulated substance”.
They emailed Zaytsey telling him the only way his account would be reinstated would be to replay to the email and promise Eventbrite that your posted events cooperate with laws. He says hes responded multiple times and has yet to hear back. He says they have money he’s owed for tickets sold for past events.
