What better day is there to smoke weed than Independence Day? For starters just in the state of Connecticut weed has been legal for a year now… That in itself is a miracle. Another thing to consider is that this is the constitution state and this is where all of our rebellious ancestors got frisky and wrote the declaration of independence, claiming ourselves a sovereign nation from England. The first two copies were written on Weed.
Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were quite the talented cultivators according to historians. Not only were the first copies of the Declaration of Independence written on weed but all of the first American flags were made out of it too.
Realistically… It gets overlooked but we’ve been cultivating in this country since 1607. Jamestown. And if you didn’t grow that stuff… You got arrested. Yes, arrested.
“Make the most of the Indian Hemp Seed and sow it everywhere.” George Washington
“Hemp is one of the greatest, most important substances of our nation” Thomas Jefferson
The quote I’d like to bring attention to:
“We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption.” Samuel Adams
Our forefathers would be rolling over in their graves knowing that the government that they created took this away. Not for the good of the people but for the malarkey of racism and oppression.
I think we kinda owe it to our rebellious ancestors that beat the oppressors and became a nation and to put this all back where they found it. It should be legal in all 50 states. And if you’re a farm it should be against the law not to grow it. Like ye olden days…
There’s a bunch of options if somebody ever wanted to get involved and make this a reality. You could join or sponsor a group( Sponsor or volunteer for organizations like Drug Policy Alliance (DPA), Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), Americans for Safe Access (ASA),National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) You could contact your representatives and politicians via phone call, email, or social media (Let that armchair warrior roar!). Participate in local, state, and national rallies for reform. You could even donate to a pro-weed politician or even run for office yourself.
Abraham Lincoln said “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” If everyone invested as much time on legalization as they do eating each other on the interwebs everybody would sitting down and having a doober and a brewski (remember that was illegal once upon a time too) on the 4th of July and enjoy our day, our state, and our great country.
We have the best weed in the world.
