It’s our money that allows commercial culture to flower and bloom. If we didn’t want to live like this, we could have changed it any time, by simply not paying for it. That’s right, we are constantly voting with our dollars.
Once upon a time in places like “the village” (NYC) one could easily find themselves within the company of a famous musician, a cowboy, a punk rocker, and an astronaut accompanied by an alien. All mashed up on the street next to a record store, a porno shop, and a place that sells switchblades. Then turn around and buy a dimebag from the guy at the news stand. Now you can go there and get a Starbucks coffee, have some frozen yogurt, and go check out the new iPhone. Complete with condescending comments from the douche who just stole your cab and is heading straight for Wall St.
But, it is what we built. We bought it. This is what we wanted. We paid extra. It had to have been… Because we said ”I’ll take 2.”
Then this all became a sterilized monoculture. It’s everywhere, and it’s all the same. It just gobbles up any and all martian cultures and fashions. It chews them up (The beast may even puke it up and eat it one more time for good digestion) digests them and then produces a homogenized monochrome Lego that fits into the big blank gray block of new an exciting/plain monoculture. This is the future. Soon robots will deliver homogenized cannabis products.
We could have changed it at any time because we all had a choice to participate or not, didn’t we? Did we? I’m not even sure anymore…
Either way it’s created a bunch of Apple like Stores, with different stuff like coffee and jeans; now it’s happening to weed.
Trying to cram centuries of Cannabis culture into a Lego… You’ll just get more carbon copied chains of Starbucks stores that all carry the same bud. Although, the ‘vintage’ wood look is nice for the New England shops. But all of them?
So let’s celebrate by all going out and buying the same weed and dabs from an MSO or support the local ‘green’/craft grocer. Cast your vote. $$$
