WATERLOO — Three people have been arrested after allegedly bringing some 50 pounds of marijuana from Las Vegas in December.
Officers with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Marcellus Trequan Moore, 24, Havelyn Tyroza Anderson, 24, and Daejaun Deshaun Damon O’Neal, 24, on Dec. 24 for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and violation of the drug tax stamp act.
Authorities allege the marijuana was placed in checked luggage from a flight from Las Vegas to Cedar Rapids. Officers with the Task Force received a tip and watched as Moore and Anderson exited the plane.
They were picked up by O’Neal, and five large suitcases were loaded in his vehicle, according to court records.
Officers followed the vehicle toward Waterloo, and it was stopped for speeding on Interstate Highway 380 in Evansdale, where police searched the luggage.
