TACOMA, Wash. — A long investigation into an illegal marijuana growing and sales operation resulted in a large seizure of plants and processed pot in Tacoma.
Authorities investigated a legal tier 2 licensed cannabis producer and processor who was discovered to be diverting and selling significant quantities of marijuana into the black market, according to investigators with the Tacoma Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB).
According to the LCB, the license allows someone to “produce, harvest, trim, dry, cure, and package cannabis into lots for sale at wholesale to cannabis processor licensees and to other cannabis producer licensees.”
On Dec. 11, search warrants were served and law enforcement seized 7,789 marijuana plants, multiple pounds of manufactured cannabis, three vehicles, a handgun, and cash.
