A new study looking at Massachusetts schools found something that might surprise critics of legalization: cannabis-related school discipline incidents actually went down after marijuana was legalized.
Researchers reviewed years of public school data and found that both medical and adult-use legalization were linked to fewer cannabis-related disciplinary cases, reversing earlier upward trends. Youth cannabis use also declined during the same period.
Bottom line:
Legal, regulated cannabis didn’t cause chaos in schools — it coincided with fewer problems, not more.
Another data point suggesting regulation may work better than prohibition.
