NORWALK — Officers raided a Norwalk smoke shop Wednesday, and said they found several hundred marijuana and THC gummy products despite the store not being licensed to sell cannabis.
Norwalk police, along with the state Department of Consumer Protection, executed a search and seizure warrant at ZaZa Smoke & Convenience Store on Westport Avenue, according to Norwalk police Sgt. Ryan Evarts. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into smoke shops that sell cannabis without the proper license.
Evarts noted that, in Connecticut, it is illegal to sell products with a total THC concentration greater than 0.3 percent without a cannabis license from the state Department of Consumer Protection.
Police had received information that the ZaZa Smoke & Convenience Store was selling products above the legal level and, while executing the search and seizure warrant, found marijuana and THC gummies. Evarts said each gummy contained 50 mg of THC, while the legal amount per gummy is 1 mg. The marijuana also was packaged a variety of different ways with “misleading labels,” Evarts said.
Police charged a 21-year-old Stamford woman with cannabis sale and possession counts in connection with the incident. She was released on a total $1,000 bond, court records indicate.
