Five men from California are in custody after a weekend drug bust in Hattiesburg.
On Sunday, a team of seven federal, state and local law enforcement agencies — including the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Drug Enforcement Agency — served search warrants that resulted in the seizure of more than 1,800 pounds of marijuana and $148,000.
Weiying Zhong, 40; Dong Hong, 37; Ligang Duan, 49; and Kaihua Yu, 45, are each charged with trafficking controlled substances and conspiracy to commit a felony. Xin Zhao, 23, is charged with trafficking controlled substances and conspiracy to traffic marijuana.
All have been booked into Forrest County Jail. The Hattiesburg Police Department said the investigation is ongoing.
