Marijuana is legal in Las Vegas but could you spot a fake dispensary? Here are 3 easy ways to spot a ‘fake’ dispensary.”
Know the Law
Dispensaries must be at least 1,500 feet from any casinos. This is a really easy way to rule out any shop that is located near a casino.
Spot the Signs
We recently passed laws to require smoke shops that sell hemp products to display signs. These are the businesses that typically set up to look like cannabis dispensaries. So be on the lookout for signage that read “ALL HEMP PRODUCTS CONTAIN LESS THAN THE LEGAL LIMIT OF THC” and “THIS LOCATION IS NOT LICENSED TO SELL CANNABIS” when you are in city limits. You should know what you are buying. These new laws also require adequate labeling and testing of products too that are hemp-derived as these may be confused with cannabis.
When in Doubt
Visit the Cannabis Compliance Board’s website. They maintain a list of state licensed dispensaries and their addresses.
As a reminder, while cannabis is legal in Nevada, you must be 21+ to possess and or consume it. Public consumption is only legal in cannabis consumption lounges. It is illegal to consume cannabis in all other public places including casinos and hotel rooms.
Stay tuned for future news because we are working to license cannabis consumption lounges where marijuana could be consumed legally.
