HAMDEN — Another recreational cannabis facility has been proposed for Whitney Avenue — this one at a vacant lingerie store — potentially giving the town three such businesses within a 3-mile stretch on Route 10.
Maryland-based Jananii, LLC wants to repurpose the former Lady Olga’s Lingerie at 3490 Whitney Ave. into a cannabis retail shop, according to an application submitted to the Hamden Planning and Zoning Commission. The empty 1,200-square-foot space belongs to a commercial building in the Westwoods Corner shopping plaza whose tenants include Talbot’s and M&T Bank.
Hamden has already approved two cannabis retailers to open on Route 10 at the former Keating Bros. Motors car dealership and the former P&M Fine Foods deli. Neither store has opened yet. The most recent proposed facility would sit between those two.
Jananii said in its application that it chose the former Lady Olga’s site because its proposed use conforms with the town’s zoning regulations, other commercial properties surround it, and it is easily accessible to customers and employees.
