NORWALK, CT — Psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana, fraudulent medical marijuana decals and other items were seized during a search of a Norwalk vape shop Tuesday, according to police.
In a news release, Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said officers executed a search and seizure warrant at the Smoke House 1 vape shop on Connecticut Avenue.
The search was the result of an ongoing investigation into local shops selling marijuana and hallucinogens without a license, Gulino said.
During the search, officers seized the following items from the shop, according to Gulino:
- Over one kilogram of marijuana.
- Several hundred products containing greater levels than the legal limit of THC.
- Psychedelic mushrooms and products containing psychedelic mushrooms.
- Fraudulent medical marijuana decals.
- Paraphernalia used for packaging and weighing marijuana.
- Ledgers documenting sales and financial records.
- Approximately $9,000 in cash.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Yazid Abdulmalek Mohammed, 36, of Yonkers, N.Y., on charges of sale of 1kg or more of cannabis, possession of greater than 1.5<5 8oz LCK cannabis, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, sale of hallucinogens and possession with intent to sell hallucinogens.
He was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Gulino.
Gulino also noted the investigation into illegal sales of marijuana and hallucinogens in Norwalk is ongoing and encouraged anyone who needs assistance or treatment related to the use of marijuana or other drugs to contact the department’s community partners at www.thenorwalkpartnership.org or www.positivedirections.org.
