SEATTLE — A pot shop in Fremont has once again been hit by thieves. This time, police said the crooks rammed a car into Ruckus Recreational just after 3 a.m. Wednesday and left a big mess.
Police believe five people created all this destruction and a witness estimates they were about 18 years old.
Unfortunately, it’s a familiar sight for this shop despite their steep investments in security. Plywood covers a big hole left by the thieves, and the crooks also took out two of the store’s bollards. It happened this morning along North 36th Street near Phinney Avenue.
“They don’t deserve this. I don’t understand why this is OK,” Linea Jonasson from Fremont stated.
Someone who lives above Ruckus Recreational told police he saw the suspects ram the side wall with a white Hyundai Tucson three times, according to the police report. The witness said he saw five people wearing all black and ski masks go in and out of the store multiple times and load bins into two other vehicles.
Police believe the car was stolen because it had ignition damage. It was towed away as evidence. People who live and work nearby said while this is devastating, they’re not surprised by the destruction.
“It happens like once a month, and it just sucks because the people that work here have to deal with it, and they’re all real nice. It’s just another local business that keeps getting hit,” explained Jesse Niemer from Fremont.
This is another big hit for the business in just a matter of months. KOMO News was there in September when the owner said about five people used a stolen car to ram into the shop, and they got away with marijuana products. SPD is looking into whether anyone has been charged in that case.
