MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fine Fettle, one of Georgia’s licensed medical cannabis providers, opens its new facility in Macon.
The facility, located at 700 Joe Tamplin Industrial Blvd., offers relief to those who suffer with pain and in need of medical cannabis products.
Retired Sergeant Gary Herber, a veteran of the United States Army who served in the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan for over 4 years, emphasized the importance of the new treatment option.
“To the veteran community. If you’re out there and you’re hurting, there are options. There are more and more options becoming available on a daily basis and never lose hope,” said Sergeant Herber, who experienced chronic pain and neurological problems due to injuries sustained in combat.
According to Fine Fettle, it can produce a variety of medical cannabis products, including soft chews, pressed pills, topicals, and patches, with plans to expand its product offerings in the future.
Benjamin Zachs, CEO of Fine Fettle, expressed eagerness to provide medication to patients in a safe and effective manner.
“To bring relief, to bring a natural medicine to stop the pill cycle. All of these elements together are really, really important and we’ve seen from across the country, and we’ve already seen at the beginning of Georgia’s program that this medication really makes a difference in people’s lives. And that’s what it’s about,” said Zachs.
State and local leaders, including Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller, attended the grand opening of the new facility. He praised the facility’s importance in providing medicinal relief to the community, especially for veterans and individuals with specific medical needs.
Additionally, the facility is expected to create approximately 200 jobs in Macon over the next two years. Fine Fettle says it plans to open several dispensaries across Georgia, with one being on Riverside Drive in Macon, set to open by early 2025.
It’s important to note that while recreational usage of marijuana remains illegal in the state of Georgia, the state allows patients with medical needs to purchase medical marijuana products containing up to 5% THC.
