STAMFORD — Eight Stamford smoke shops were raided at the end of 2024 in what state and local officials are calling a major crackdown of illegal cannabis sales.
At a Wednesday morning press conference at the Stamford Police Department, two long tables were filled with illegal cannabis products — numerous vials containing marijuana buds, edibles containing THC in colorful packaging, vape pens and large bags of marijuana flower — all of which had been captured from just one of the eight shops.
“All of these products that you see here today were seized in these raids,” said Connecticut Attorney General William Tong. “They weren’t hidden under the counter, they weren’t disguised.”
The inspection of the smoke shops took place on Dec. 19 and was a joint effort between the city’s police department with state police, as well as the Department of Consumer Protection, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Labor, Department of Revenue Services and the attorney general’s office.
