This trend reflects a 15-fold increase in daily cannabis use since 1992, when fewer than 1 million individuals reported such usage .
Millennials and Generation Z are at the forefront of this shift, with Millennials accounting for 46.2% of cannabis spending and Gen Z emerging as the fastest-growing consumer segment. These generations show a strong preference for edibles and vapor pens, favoring discreet and health-conscious consumption methods over traditional smoking .
The rise in cannabis use is also influenced by changing perceptions of alcohol. A Bloomberg Intelligence survey revealed that 44% of Americans now prefer cannabis over alcohol, up from 33% the previous year. This shift is driven by wellness considerations and a desire for alternatives to alcohol’s negative health impacts .
