BALTIMORE (WBFF) — In preparation for the legalization of cannabis in Maryland starting July 1, the Baltimore County Police Department wants to ask motorists to be aware of the risks associated with cannabis-impaired driving.
Police said cannabis consumption can do the following:
Impair driving
Negatively impact reaction time
Negatively impact motor coordination
Negatively impact attention
“Duration of cannabis intoxication/impairment can vary widely and is dependent on several factors, such as method of consumption, individual metabolism, other food, and drink consumed, etc.,” police said.
Police said recent guidelines from the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission recommend waiting at least six hours after consuming cannabis to drive.
