Why is public consumption currently illegal?
We all know people who consume cannabis in public, even now with Connecticut only having a medical program. What does the future of recreational cannabis look like without public consumption? Grim and bleak if you were to ask me. Currently, there is no legal public consumption allowed in the US. However this does not mean public consumption doesn’t happen. But why is it, that state governments deem it acceptable to say we have to be in a private setting. Being a patient, I would have a hard time to sit there and consciously tell someone else they can’t consume. I’m not here to be the judge and jury, but how is it, we sit here and allow politicians to make decisions on things they are not knowledgeable on. Doesn’t this seem insane?
In Maine, there is still hope for this to change. Instead of being ushered home or somewhere private to consume, rumors are they may still allow social clubs to operate. We all grew up with bars, why can’t we have cannabis bars/clubs, are we not adults? Why are we so scared as a society, we can’t be trusted with anything…
Insert Massachusetts.
The great State of Massachusetts is also standing up to tyranny once again with the possibility of on-site consumption. As a recreational cannabis consumer, wouldn’t you want the same liberties as an alcohol consumer?
We live in a world where brands and distributors offer in store sampling of products in local package stores. I don’t even need to go to a bar to taste the new IPA now. Why is this double-standard acceptable to people, either way people are just trying to relax. The safety concern theory is getting old when statistics are showing the opposite. The naysayers never provide statistical proof, like we demand to support our claims. This doesn’t make logical sense to me. I understand numbers can be manipulated, but opponents to legalization aren’t even trying that, they just lie with not supporting references. How many marijuana-related incidents/deaths do you hear are happening now? Hate to be the bearer of bad news, people smoke/vape/consume and drive right now on your roads. If you think it’s not happening, you’re mistaken. You are not going to be in any more danger than you are now on the road.
The basic idea of onsite social consumption is to allow adults to purchase a marijuana product and use it in the same location, much like purchasing alcohol at a bar or a cigar at a cigar bar. Allowing onsite consumption would provide legal locations for tourists staying in hotels and renters who are prohibited from smoking in their apartments to consume marijuana. They could also give parents a place to smoke or consume marijuana without ever bringing it around their children.
I think these are all great reasons, but there are more.
I leave you to think on this.
With recreational tourism, what happens to cannabis when your vacation is over? Does it get disposed or brought back home with the tourist? Wouldn’t you want a cannabis newcomer to consume in a safe responsible atmosphere where patrons only consume what they need. I don’t need a 6-pack of beer at home, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like going out to a bar or restaurant occasionally
