It’s Election Day and it’s time to vote.
Today is Connecticut’s General Election. We have an opportunity to vote for change, regardless of your party affiliation. We have heard from the candidates, both on the state and local levels and now is the time to exercise your right to vote.
It’s time to correct Connecticut’s problems
Regardless on how you feel as it concerns to tolls or taxes, the real problem we have in this state is the economy. Sure we can generate income from implementing tolls, but at what cost? There is no doubt that the cost of transporting goods will be placed on the shoulders of the consumer. As for taxes, any tax increase mean less money in our pockets, agreed. As for ridding residents of an income tax as a form of a stimulus, this is going to take years and will not be eliminated within the first year or even within a single term. So what can we do?
One thing we can do is end prohibition on cannabis. We should legalize and regulate the sale of cannabis and cannabis products. We should grant people, to include patients, the right to grow their own plants for personal consumption and we should stop sending people to prison. We can do all of this quickly and all within a year. Let us not forget, Colorado’s Cannabis industry alone is worth $5 Billion USD to date. Don’t you think personal choice is a great way to provide a new revenue stream? We do. Give people a choice to consume or not, either way you are creating new opportunity and a new industry. You can’t pledge opportunity by kicking the can down the road nor can you create it thru taxation or tolls.
Do we want people to base their vote solely on cannabis, no. There are a lot of issues at hand and a fix is not that simple, however ending cannabis prohibition is an easy win, one of which is well over due.
