Now keep in mind that this was a case study and not a drug trial. Drug trials last for years and involve thousands of participants. This was a case study for 125 people over 90 days. So the studies aren’t exactly the same however there are some impressive numbers associated with this particular study.
One of the things that scientists found over time is that THC fits into the human CB1 receptor like a key in a locked door. CB1 has a primary function of taking care of our brain and our central nervous system. So the CB1 receptor controls things like our mood, when we’re tired, and most importantly when we’re hungry. So when the CB1 receptor becomes stimulated this makes us hungry. Make sense so far?
Now when we add THCV into this, because it’s still THC it locks right into the CB1 receptor just like regular THC. However there are a couple different things happening here. For starters this is not going to get you high. Plus when it binds to the receptor it will not be stimulating it but blocking it. Now that the receptor is blocked and can’t be stimulated an individual isn’t going to get hungry until their body actually needs food.
By the end of the study they had some staggering results. Along with the 100% success rate across their 125 individuals they had results with people losing up to 18 pounds of extra weight. They also found up to 6 inches was lost off of the participants waist lines and up to an eight point drop in BMI. These are really amazing results.
