I think it’s just like the old saying goes… “You’re either with me, or against me.” I really think that this is the mindset of most, especially when it comes to ANY sort of legalization of Cannabis, medical or recreational. Most people already have their mind made up. It’s not likely that anyone is riding the fence on this issue, there is no real gray area here. In my opinion, those who claim to be undecided on the issue have already made up their minds, they’re simply looking for more data to reinforce what they already believe to be true. That’s if people are even giving it that much thought. This can also be found on the side of the activists. Many groups find themselves arguing amongst each other. “You threw a bunch of parties!” “We hate corporate cannabis!” “I’m a boof buster!” “We need a Weed Walmart!” Some want corporate giants, some just want to have a farm stand or have a party. I say, why not have it all.
Most of those who are opposed to the legalization of Cannabis offer information found in Reefer Madness, or want to talk about the asphyxiated monkeys. And more than likely, someone will throw around “The Gateway Drug” theory. We’re talking about REALLY outdated information that has been debunked over time, yet still somehow it becomes part of the argument. Why? Because their mind is already made up. What can you do to change the mindset of a person who thinks like this? You can’t. Not when their mind is made up. But they’ll all have to get over it, all but 4 states have something on the books in regards to a weed law whether it’s CBD or THC.
The vibes have even gotten nasty within some of the groups of CT ‘activism’. These are supposed to be like minded people. They tear and claw at one another like rabid beasts fighting for their last meal.
For what?
Everyone ultimately wants the same thing here. We’re really only talking about different variables of the same thing. This whole blame, shame, and finger pointing is school yard immature baby buggy bumper bologna.
So murmur it up…
Keep in mind that not everyone has to support everything. Treat it like a TV; if you don’t like what’s on turn it off or change the channel. It’s as easy as that. There’s a channel with something on that you’ll like. There’s no need to throw tomatoes at the screen, or post someone’s personal information on social media with intent of trying to defame them, or taking someones URL.
When the hell did we lose the ability to agree to disagree? Now if you disagree you’re canceled or blacklisted. 🤷🏻♂️
Don’t bother trying to change the mind of the old bearded stuffed shirt that’s still thinks if a person smokes weed that their feet will fall off because that’s what their gym teacher told them in high school. Don’t bother with the “activist” that “knows everything” and just looks to be better than everyone else by trying to make them look bad. Just block out the crazies and let them scream in their echo chambers into oblivion.
But a continued dialogue on Cannabis is still needed. Not necessarily to change minds, but to bring together the likeminded and answer the inquiries of the curious. It is the likeminded that will push for what you want, because they want it too. And you must take those likeminded people and make them your doctor, lawyer, mayor, governor, or president. Or maybe they just become your friend or neighbor. But just let the rest go… None of them serve you.
