There has been a lot of talk about the DEA rescheduling cannabis (marijuana) as of lately. Lawmakers in April were informed by the DEA, that the DEA “hopes to release its determination in the first half of 2016.” The DEA recently pushed the decision to the end of July. But July has past and we still have not seen a change in the scheduling of cannabis (marijuana). What are they waiting on?
Dated back on April 4th, 2016, the “DEA had received the HHS scientific and medical evaluations, as well as a scheduling recommendation, and is currently reviewing these documents and all other relevant data to make a determination in accordance with the CSA.”
Did you know that Marinol, the synthetic version of THC, is considered schedule III? I have a hard time wrapping my mind around this! Cannabis is supposed to be bad? Cannabis (marijuana) contains THC naturally and this is the reason why we should all be scared, right? Wait a minute, the synthetic versions are totally safe! Come on!!! How brain-washed are these decision makers in the DEA, that they can’t clearly see the problem here? Cannabis is medicine!
According to the letter, the DEA has approved 265 researchers to conduct medical marijuana research. How long does it take to determine that cannabis has medical properties? Any stoner will tell you that cannabis is safer and healthier than alcohol or tobacco, neither of which are considered drugs in the eyes of the DEA. I’ve never made a scene or done something I regret while smoking cannabis, but the lord knows I have while drinking.
