The world of cannabis advocacy has suffered a great loss with the passing of Robert Platshorn, also known as Bobby Tuna. I write this with a heavy heart as I just found out that he left us. I had the pleasure of chatting with Bobby on Facebook several times in the past, and I’m bummed that he’s no longer with us.
Bobby Tuna was no ordinary man. He lived a life full of adventure, challenges, and victories. He was known for being one of the biggest marijuana smugglers in the United States during the 1970s, but he didn’t let that define him. After serving 30 years in prison, Bobby transformed himself into an author and cannabis advocate. His book, “The Black Tuna Diaries,” chronicled his life as a smuggler and provided an inside look at the drug trade during that time.
Bobby’s advocacy work didn’t stop there. He became a leading voice in the cannabis community, fighting for legalization and educating people about the benefits of medical marijuana. He founded The Silver Tour, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating seniors about medical cannabis. He believed that seniors could benefit greatly from the medicinal properties of cannabis and fought tirelessly to ensure that they had access to it.
Bobby’s passion for the cause was infectious, and he inspired countless people to join him in the fight for legalization. He was a charismatic and charming man, and his larger-than-life personality made him a beloved figure in the cannabis community.
It’s hard to believe that Bobby is no longer with us. His legacy will live on through his work, his writing, and the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Bobby Tuna. You will be sorely missed.
