Sometimes people are too ill to go out and get things in order for them to care for themselves. Individuals with serious conditions at times require assistance, even when it comes to picking up their medicine. This is where a “caregiver” comes into play.
What’s a Caregiver when saying it in reference to the weed world?
Here in Connecticut it’s simple. It’s a person designated by The Medical Marijuana Patient that can make purchases on their behalf. They can go into a dispensary, view all menus of the 4 product lines available in CT, and make a final decision based on the needs of the patient. Then delivering all of the items directly to the person in need.
But that’s it.
Plus there’s like a $25 fee to get licensed in addition to the multiple fees that are required just to be a “legal” patient. Ick.

However, being a Caregiver in some other states looks a little different.
Cannabis caregivers in most states are designated by the patient and usually the patient doesn’t normally have more than one caregiver, maybe 2. But in many cases, the Caregiver will have multiple patients. These relationship are important to folks. Click here to see why…
Caregivers generally only need a few things too…
The availability of cannabis for caregivers must be assured. They either purchase cannabis directly from a dispensary or grow their own.
It’s worth repeating. Growing their own, as many plants allowed per patient under the local custom. Why aren’t we doing this? Some states actually have no ceiling on the number of patients a caregiver can have.
These caregivers usually follow have to follow some legal application process with a state agency to become designated. In CT, it’d be the DCP.
Additionally, these guys usually have rules about what they can and cannot do. Like, caregivers don’t normally consume their patients’ cannabis products. Nor is any cannabis consumed by them unless they possess a medical card or reside in a state that allows adult use. Lastly, they normally make it illegal for caregivers to cultivate cannabis for anyone other than those assigned to receive it. In addition, they don’t sell or give away any of their patients’ weed to anyone. So if your guy was growing you “Sour Diesel”, that’s YOUR Sour Diesel.
Think of all of the benefits…
When a patient has a caregiver with botanical skills, the medicine produced is unlike anything that can come from a dispensary. It’s generally a higher quality product due to caregivers growing in small batches of specific strains for the specific needs of the patient. Plus, the savings would be through the roof.
So in the end you’d have a superior product that is consistent and cost effective. But most of all, it’d be made just for you…
Caregivers… We need these. I don’t mean the ones we have.
