If you’re anything like me, you really enjoy the holiday season and everything that comes with it. Colors of red, white, and green cover the holiday backdrop. Plus with any luck we’ll have white fluffy rain the night before making the hot chocolate that much sweeter in the morning.
Tonight was The HighBazaar Christmas party. As you can imagine, this is not your typical holiday festivity.
When I arrived it was a party scenario. People talking and laughing while drinking and getting in line for the wonderful buffet full of all of our favorite pub foods. I was busy socializing and missed out on the tots. Thank God there isn’t a global shortage.
Christmas is a time to be around friends and family to love, laugh, and be happy. These are my people. It’s the time to reflect on the memories that were made throughout the year.
I could tell you the story of a thousand joints on the patio, but this is a different story. As I sat at the bar and stared across the room I just couldn’t help but to think about how proud I am of this group of people. Gandhi said “Be the change that you want to see in the world“ That is truly what is happening here.
During the summer, HighBazaar got involved in a Hamden fundraiser for We Are The Village and donated a dunking tank to help raise money with the police department. How cool is that?
In November a group of HighBazaar people went and did a big clean up in Hartford at Komora’s Cultural Corner. Efforts involved debris removal, the donation and installation of privacy fencing, legal signage were provided along with additional resources for their Halloweed Bazaar.
For the holiday season, 2 campaigns were run. First, the group did a Toys for Tots fundraiser which ultimately lead to a truck literally stuffed full of toys. Then there was the socks for the homeless drive. I have to be honest here… I’ve never seen that many socks, ever. Even a department store doesn’t have this big of a sock section. An entire SUV was filled. An entire SUV was filled. Yes, I said that twice because that sucker was full.
While committees are still being formed and others scream into echo chambers for change at the capitol, HighBazaar is becoming the change. They are setting the stage and future standards which will become guiding lights of the imminent changes. A forthcoming star about to go SuperNova. Get some shades…
