End Connecticut’s Cannabis Prohibition
Hopefully tomorrow will be the start towards the change we desire in Connecticut. Tomorrow marks the beginning of the 2018 Legislative Session in Hartford and local activists from around the state will be travelling to meet and discuss cannabis reform and legalization with state representatives. Face to face communications is the most impactful, but if you cannot attend reach out to your representatives via email or phone. You cannot be heard if you don’t exercise your voice.
In this day and age we should have learned by now, if you don’t act on things you believe are wrong, then nothing will change. People seem to forget that just because something is legal, doesn’t make it right and vice versa. We need to speak the truth about cannabis. We should normalize cannabis conversation. Prohibition has hurt more than it has protected. It is based on proven fallacies, profiteering, racial and social suppression.
What if it was you or a loved one facing charges for a procession charge; having to stress and worry about your life being ruined for a harmless plant. Now imagine if the same persecutions were applied to alcohol. Doesn’t seem right, does it?
Truths:
· The gateway theory….debunked.
· Teen use has not increased in states where recreational cannabis was legalized.
· Vehicular accidents have not increased where recreational cannabis was legalized.
· Crime has not increased where recreational cannabis was legalized.
· Opiate death and hospitalizations decreased by 25% in states where recreational cannabis was legalized.
· Oh and let us not forget… the state of Connecticut, stands to make a large amount of money while creating new jobs and a demanding industry.
These are truths, spread the word. It is easy to find credited support for these claims. Prohibition claims are being studied and they are failing. Let’s protect patient rights to medicine as well, we need access to medicine regardless of the states ability to protect our right. We should have personal home grow rights. The federal government cannot easily stop every patient from growing a few plants, we would have power in numbers.
Good people do smoke marijuana. I am not a criminal and neither are you.
