Norwalk’s Reputation Takes a Puff — Smoke Shop Bust Yields Over a Pound of Cannabis

In a scene that added just a touch of spice to the city’s usual charm, Norwalk police executed a search warrant at a Washington Street smoke shop and uncovered more than a pound of cannabis products, ultimately arresting an employee. Officers from the Special Services Division carried out the search on December 3, marking the second warrant served at the same store this year.

Inside, investigators reported finding roughly 1.5 pounds of illegal cannabis items, including pre-rolled joints, bagged marijuana, and THC-infused edibles. The employee taken into custody, a 20-year-old Norwalk resident, was already wanted on an outstanding warrant. He now faces additional charges related to possession and intent to distribute and is being held on a $50,000 bond pending his upcoming court appearance.

Connecticut law remains clear: any product containing more than 0.3 percent THC can only be sold through a state-licensed dispensary, and marijuana itself is strictly limited to those regulated channels.

Through it all, Norwalk continues to keep it classy—just with the occasional smoky subplot to keep things interesting.
