BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport police arrested a man they said was illegally in possession of a handgun and extended magazine, about two pounds of marijuana and a U.S. Army flak vest earlier this week, officials said.
Ralph Cora, 41, is a felon, making it illegal for him to possess a gun, a news release provided by a Bridgeport spokesperson Tiadora Josef said.
Cora is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, criminal possession of body armor and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, the news release said. He also is charged with illegal transfer of a pistol and weapons in a motor vehicle.
Bridgeport task force officers began investigating Cora this month after they learned he was in possession of a gun, the release said. On Tuesday, officers located him near Park Avenue and Gregory Street.
Law enforcement officers monitored him as he went to the area of Taft Avenue and pulled him over, the news release said.
Police located a Palmetto Armory 9 mm handgun with an extended magazine, a “US Army Ballist Vest” and 110 bags of marijuana, which weighed approximately two pounds in total, the release said.
