BRIDGEPORT — Zoning officials for the second time have rejected an attempt by Budr Cannabis to open a year-round retail marijuana location within the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater.
“It was definitely disappointing,” said Carl Tirella Jr. the company’s co-founder, of the zoning commission’s denial Tuesday of Budr’s application. “This location itself … is really a perfect location for cannabis.”
Tirella and Budr’s land use attorney, Chris Russo, in separate interviews did not rule out trying to find a way forward.
“We’re reviewing what our possible next steps are,” Russo said, including possibly resubmitting a “tweaked” proposal.
They could also attempt to appeal the decision in court. But Tirella said there is only so much more time and money that can be spent on the effort.
“We really have to make a business decision at this point,” he continued. “So we’re evaluating it and will see where that goes over the next few days to a week.”
