SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Two individuals are facing charges in Scottsville after being accused of giving a minor marijuana in exchange for watching their children.
Trever L. Johnson, 34, and Amber E. Caldwell, 30, of Scottsville are charged with human trafficking (forced labor of a victim under the age of 18) and unlawful transaction with a minor.
The human trafficking charge was added following an investigation on Oct. 2 by a Scottsville Police Department detective.
The Scottsville Police Department says it received a call on Aug. 18 to respond to Court Street to assist the Department for Community Based Services regarding a juvenile hired to watch children while the children’s parents were at work.
Police say the juvenile had been living with Johnson and Caldwell.
Instead of payment for watching the children, police say the adults gave the juvenile marijuana as a form of payment.
Johnson and Caldwell remain at the Allen County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
